Mike Hookem's future as a UKIP MEP could be hanging the balance after today's extraordinary events in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
He allegedly punched leadership candidate Steven Woolfe, leaving him unconscious.
The Hull-based politician vowed to make himself redundant when he was first elected as an MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber in 2014 by campaigning for Britain to leave the European Union.
He moved a step closer to that goal in June after the Brexit vote.
