What Price Life: 82 buildings fail new fire safety test introduced in wake of Grenfell tragedy



A total of 82 buildings have failed a new fire safety test established in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The tests examined the safety of a type of cladding in combination with two different types of insulation, replicating a severe flat fire to see if the blaze would spread upward.
Of these 82 structures to fail the new test, 47 are under the ownership of local authorities or housing associations.
The Government has since issued advice to building owners and affected parties, and stated current financial restrictions will not prevent the necessary work from being undertaken.
