What is all that foam on Tynemouth beach that has left locals puzzled?
 

A strange foam washed up on Tynemouth Longsands beach has left locals with just one question on their mind - what on earth is it?
A concerned reader contacted the Chronicle with pictures from the beach, fearing it was a result of pollution from the sea.
Adrian Don - a volunteer lifeboat press office with Tynemouth RNLI - has confirmed there is no reason to be concerned by the foam, and explained why it has washed up on our shores. However, he has advised beachgoers to avoid any deliberate contact with the foam.
