Wharton Park given the Royal seal of approval after HRH The Duke of Kent visit
 

A Durham city centre park has been given the Royal seal of approval after being officially opened by HRH The Duke of Kent.
Wharton Park has recently undergone a £3m regeneration scheme and schoolchildren and friends of the park were on hand to greet the royal visitor on Friday morning.
The park has long been a favourite place for residents and visitors since it was donated to the people of Durham in 1858 by William Lloyd Wharton, then chairman of the Great North Eastern Railway and High Sheriff of Durham.
