West Brom striker Salomon Rondon: 'I could have played basketball... my hero was Michael Jordan but my dad told me I should stick with football!'



Sometimes, dad simply knows best. That, at least, is the lesson learned by West Bromwich Albion’s forward Salomon Rondon.
‘I began playing football on the streets in Venezuela, from age 4,’ he says. ‘But I loved basketball, I was obsessed with Michael Jordan. My favourite number is his 23. I could have played to a high level in Venezuela but my dad always told me that I should stick with football and that there would be more opportunities for me. It shows dad is always right!
