Were you caught up in this dramatic blaze at Littlewoods in Derby back in 1978?
 

There dramatic photographs from our archive show a fire at Littlewoods in Derby's Cornmarket in 1978.
Thousands of pounds worth of damage, mainly structural, was done to the building after the blaze broke out in a store room on the top floor of the department store on Monday, June 19.
Between 80 and 100 staff, along with shoppers, were evacuated from the premises after the alarm was raised by restaurant manager John Harston at 4.30pm.
Twelve fire appliances from Derby and Ilkeston, manned by 70 firefighters, attended the scene and the fire took almost two hours to be brought under control.... read more
