'We've been fighting for years': Marsden Road residents' safety fears after woman killed

Angry residents on a street where a woman was hit by a car and killed this week they have been warning for years the road was an accident waiting to happen.
A woman died after being struck by a car on Marsden Road in Marsden, South Tyneside, and died at the scene at around 5.30pm on August 30.
The North East Air Ambulance was scrambled but nothing could be done to save the victim, who is believed to be an elderly lady who lives in the area.
Marsden Road remained closed for several hours as police gathered evidence from the scene of the collision.
