Warning issued as 'harmful' blue-green algae takes over canal

People walking anywhere near a Lincolnshire canal have been advised to avoid contact with the water following an outbreak of a "harmful" blue-green algae.
The Canal & River Trust, which looks after the Grantham Canal has issued the caution because it says the algae can be harmful if people come into contact with it.
According to the NHS Choices website, swimming in blue-green algae can trigger skin rashes, stomach upsets and sore eyes.
