Vow to fight threat to child protection services across North East
 

A North East MP given a key role in Labour’s team has vowed to fight controversial plans to let councils opt out of child protection laws.
Emma Lewell-Buck, MP for South Shields, spoke to the Chronicle about her new role as Shadow Minister for Children and Families on Jeremy Corbyn’s front bench.
She was one of a number of Labour MPs who quit as a shadow minister in June in an attempt to convince Mr Corbyn to step aside, but has now accepted a role following Mr Corbyn’s second leadership election win.
