Visitors warned to keep away from Bradgate Park deer during rutting season



Bradgate Park bosses are urging people to stay away from the deer during the rutting season.
Each October, hundreds of extra visitors flock to the park for the chance to watch, film and photograph males battling it out for the right to mate with a female.
The deer rut has now begun and visitors can hear the red stags roaring and fallow bucks grunting, as well as see great sparing battles between rival males.
But park director Peter Tyldesley said that the competition to mate, as well as making the males more aggressive, could be extremely testing on their bodies.
