Virgin Trains catering staff set for strike vote over poor pay



HIGH SPEEDS, LOW WAGES: Workers on Virgin’s London to Glasgow services receive just the legal minimum rate
CATERING workers on Virgin West Coast trains are to ballot on strike action over poverty pay, their union announced yesterday.
In 2014, Virgin hived off their jobs to contractor DHL in a £30 million deal.
The catering staff, who ply the route between London’s Euston station and Glasgow, are paid the national minimum wage of £7.20 an hour.
Virgin proposes a pay increase of 1.75 per cent, but some workers will be denied even that.
