Virgin Train strike: How is it affecting North East commuters?
 

North East commuters have so far avoided major disruption as workers on Virgin Trains East Coast began a 24-hour strike.
No major delays have been reported and the company says services will go ahead as planned despite the industrial action against threatened job cuts and disputes over working conditions and safety.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) workers’ union have mounted a picket line outside Newcastle Central station on Monday morning after talks last week failed to break the deadlock.
