Victim's dad 'delighted' with success of Clare's Law as police receive more than 1000 requests in first year
 

POLICE received 1044 requests for information in the first year of a scheme that helps people find out if their partner has a history of domestic abuse.
The initiative, known as Clare’s Law, was rolled out across Scotland on October 1 last year. It is named after Clare Wood, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2009.
The 36-year-old was strangled and set on fire by George Appleton, 44. She had met him via Facebook and was unaware of his history of violence against women.
