VAR makes its debut in competitive British football when Brighton face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup... but what is the decision making process and will fans know what is going on?



Video Assistant Referee - or VAR - will be available for the first time in an English competitive game when Brighton take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Monday.
An off-field official - who will not be at the AMEX Stadium - will be watching video footage of the game, stepping in if the referee and assistants have made a 'clear and obvious' error.
These apply to four key areas - goals, red cards, penalties or cases of mistaken identity - which disrupt the flow of the game.
