Remember Valencia? It’s the club Peter Lim bought in 2014. It’s where Gary Neville spent four months in 2016 on a managerial apprenticeship that saw him fired after 28 games. It’s the club with two stadiums – one it can’t sell and one it’s still building.
Well something is stirring at the old Mestalla. Twelve games in they are second in La Liga with nine wins. They are six points clear of both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and will be just a point off Barcelona if they beat them at home next weekend. The phoenix – or should that be the Bat – is rising.
