Using an invalid bus pass? This is how you could get caught with a new 'smart' machine
 

Bus pass fraudsters have been warned new technology is set to bring an end to fare fiddling.
Checks are being introduced on buses on Teesside to prevent the misuse of concessionary bus passes meant for older and disabled people.
Smart ticket machines on buses operating across the region have been programmed to indicate immediately whether a concessionary bus pass has been cancelled by the local transport authority which issued it.
