US accused of ‘protecting jihadist group connected to al-Qaeda in Syria’
 

The US has been accused of trying to protect a jihadist group affiliated with al-Qaeda in Syria.
Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, told the BBC that the US had broken its promise to separate the powerful Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra front) from more moderate rebels.
