UKAD calls for government to tighten controls to halt steroid abuse in gyms and amateur sport



UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) will tell the government's drugs policy advisors at a hearing in London on Tuesday that the import of anabolic steroids must be made illegal as their abuse has spread beyond elite sport.
Working with its partners in law enforcement, UKAD has seen a 35 per cent rise over the last year in the arrival of steroids from China, India and eastern Europe, with seizures of human growth hormone and testosterone also significantly up.
