UK manufacturers in highest demand for 30 years thanks to climb in exports - but prices keep rising



British factories saw orders jump to the highest level for nearly 30 years thanks to strong exports but warned costs continued to be on the rise, a new report shows.
A weaker pound and robust global growth helped manufacturers’ orders balance rise to its highest since August 1988, albeit by a small margin, according to the latest survey of nearly 400 manufacturers by the Confederation of British Industry.
Demand for British goods from foreign buyers, especially chemicals, electronics and transport goods, lifted export order books to their highest in 20 years.
