TV streaming service TVPlayer nets £5m funding as investors tune in



TVPlayer, a television streaming spin-off, has completed a £5million investment round led by US cable TV giant A&E Networks.
As part of the deal, TVPlayer has demerged from its parent company, Simplestream, to become a standalone business. Chief operating officer Rob Hodgkinson said: ‘We’ve spun TVPlayer out from Simplestream, which started in 2011 as a software company to build the equivalent of BBC iPlayer for other broadcasters.
