Travis Perkins announces 30 branch closures - with 600 jobs at risk



Timber merchant Travis Perkins has announced 600 jobs are at risk.
The company, which has branches in Tunstall, Longton, Leek and Blythe Bridge, Newcastle, Crewe, Nantwich, Stafford, Uttoxeter and Congleton, has announced plans to close more than 30 branches.
The builders' merchant, which also owns DIY chain Wickes, is also said to be closing 10 smaller distribution centres and reviewing its heating and plumbing division.
The move is understood to come amid concerns about full-year profits and "uncertain" trading.
