Town hall branded 'faceless Santa-deniers' and compared to North Korea for Christmas cuts proposal
 

Oneof Manchester’s most senior councillors has branded his own administration ‘faceless Santa-deniers’ for suggesting the city’s legendary Father Christmas could be axed under the latest round of cuts.
Coun Pat Karney, who leads for the town hall on Christmas celebrations, called the proposals - which also include halving Manchester’s festive lights budget - ‘scandalous’ and vowed to fight them all the way.
The council is considering saving nearly £200,000 by mothballing Santa and slashing its Christmas lights spend.
