Town centre bike thefts on rise
 

POLICE in Leamington have reported a spike in town centre bike thefts.
The force say they are gathering ‘necessary intelligence’ and deploying a number of plain clothed officers to incident hotspots.
A male was recently arrested and charged with ‘going equipped to steal’ after being spotted with a pair of bolt croppers by a member of the public.
The majority of stolen bikes had their cable locks cut by similar implements, so the force is urging cyclists to consider using ‘D locks’ which are much more difficult to break.
