Tories lose two council seats to Lib Dems in latest by-elections



Conservatives have seen two council seats taken by Liberal Democrats in the latest local by-elections ahead of the Tory Party conference starting in Birmingham on Sunday.
The losses bring to 15 the number of Conservative defeats in such contests since the May elections, while they have gained five seats and held 27.
Meanwhile, the Lib Dem victories meant they continued their unbroken stretch of wins in which they have gained 18, lost none and held seven.
