Top cop who challenged Government's stance on drugs has his £133k a year contract extended
 

The Chief Constable of Durham Police will have his contract extended for a further three years.
Initially appointed to the role in February 2013, Mike Barton’s term of office was due to end in February 2018, However Ron Hogg, Durham’s Police Crime Commissioner has decided to extend the contract to February 2021.
The top cop who was awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal in 2014 will earn a salary of £133,068 for the role.
