Toby Alderweireld set to miss Champions League trip to Bayer Leverkusen as Tottenham sweat on extent of defender's knee injury



Tottenham Hotspur face an anxious wait on the extent of an injury to Toby Alderweireld that almost certainly rules him out of Tuesday's Champions League game at Bayer Leverkusen and could prove much worse.
The defender was taken off on a stretcher after an hour of Tottenham's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich, having fallen awkwardly when trying to clear a cross and appearing to damage his right knee.
Alderweireld attempted to walk from the field after club medics signalled for a substitution but dropped to the ground and banged his palms on the turf in frustration.
