Thug who tried to rob dementia victim has jail sentence slashed
 

A drunken thug who burst into a Birmingham dementia-sufferer’s home and tried to rob him has had his jail term slashed by a third on appeal.
James Charles Doody, 27, of no fixed address, invaded the 78-year-old man’s bungalow in Acocks Green, in October last year.
The victim suffered from a “degree of dementia”, Mr Justice Irwin told London’s Appeal Court.
But the pensioner was able to call the police who came rapidly and found Doody still inside the property.
He was “clearly very intoxicated” and hadn’t stolen anything before officers arrived.
