Three North East councils plan their own devolution deal with the Government
 

Three North East councils have begun talks on signing their own devolution deal with the Government.
Newcastle , North Tyneside and Northumberland councils have agreed to attempt to forge their own agreement after plans for a wider North East package fell through.
They have told central government that they are ready to negotiate as a group of three.
And the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) says it is keen to press ahead with talks, although negotiations have not yet begun.
