Sixty years ago today, the booming voice of James Robertson Justice announced that Scotland had a new television channel.
The line-up of the first STV show – broadcast live from Glasgow’s Theatre Royal – is now forgotten but over the last six decades the channel have hosted an impressive range of talent.
Today we raid the archives and discover some treasures from the past – and the stars of the future who made early appearances on STV.
