Thousands watch the Diwali lights switch on in Birmingham

Thousands of families came to celebrate at the West Midlands’ largest Diwali festival.
The fun began at 12 noon on Soho Road on Sunday with lots of food and live music.
And the grand finale came later when the Diwali lights were switched on during a firework display once the sun had gone down.
Festival of lights Diwali is known as the 'festival of light' so there were bangs, whizzes and flashes of light galore as the fireworks took to the skies.
And the streets became illuminated with beautiful twinkly street lights of all different colours.
