Thousands of families in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire could be about to see bills rise

British Gas has announced it is to increase its electricity tariffs by 12.5% in September in a move which will affect thousands of people in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
The Big Six energy giant has confirmed the price rise will take effect on September 15. It was announced after a blunder on Monday saw the group mistakenly publish an incomplete statement about increasing electricity tariffs on its website.
In all, 3.1 million customers will be affected.
