Sun-lovers will get a reminder of summer when temperatures climb into the mid-20s at the weekend before parts of Coventry are battered by strong winds.
The mercury could even soar to 25C (77F) in isolated areas of southeast England as high pressure extends across the country luring warm air from southern Europe, according to some sources.
But high winds - some even touching gale force - will sweep across north of the UK and the Midlands by midweek.
