This stunning seven-bedroom detached Victorian property is set to be converted into a children’s day nursery – because city housing chiefs claimed it is too grand for Erdington.
Plans to convert the 1886 built house, on Wood End Road, into a business were approved by city planners on a narrow 6-5 vote – prompting outrage from opponents.
A key contribution came from the council’s housing department which said that while it ‘regretted’ the loss of a large family home, it is probably too large for occupation.
