Thirteen people have been arrested across the North East over suspicion of human trafficking
 

Thirteen people have been arrested across the North East on suspicion of people trafficking.
Eight men and five women were picked up by police as part of a major police operation.
During the officers’ search they located two men and two women who it is claimed could be victims of exploitation. All four are now being safe guarded by police.
Five of the searches were carried out in the Cowgate area of Newcastle , while there three further searches at addresses in Houghton-le-Spring and Consett.
