Thief plundered SSI steelworks site for copper - but didn't realise the cameras were on him
 

A thief was caught on CCTV stealing valuable metal from the SSI steelworks plant after the firm went into liquidation.
Staff at the Redcar site were sent to hunt out shifty Alan Williams after cameras spotted him “mooching” around to avoid detection.
But it wasn’t staff that got Williams, but a police dog.
He and an accomplice had tried nicking an estimated £1,000 worth of copper cable to flog on the black market.
Around 1,700 workers lost their jobs after the former Tata Steel site shut a year ago amid plummeting global steel prices.
