The workers behind the biscuits that fed Britain



Frears Biscuits were a popular snack across the nation and, at one time, a big name in Leicester.
So, I was pleased to hear from Maureen Whitmore, nee Hunter, who worked at their factory in Woodgate.
In this nostalgic recollection, she reveals how these tasty treats were produced – and some of the names who made them.
"It was 1950 when I first got a job at Frears," recalls Maureen, now of Gunnislake, Cornwall.
