The woman who could die from one sip of Diet Coke! Rugby player, 23, can't digest the controversial sweetener used in the fizzy pop



A former international rugby player today revealed how she can't drink Diet Coke - because it could potentially kill her or leave her brain damaged.
Emma Harbage, from Lichfield, Staffordshire, suffers from phenylketonuria - which means her liver is unable to break down phenylalanine.
The crucial amino acid - a building block of protein - exists in meat, cheese and even aspartame, a controversial artificial sweetener commonly used in soft drinks.
