The war against homelessness: Newcastle chosen as 'trailblazer' city in bid to end rough sleeping
 

Newcastle has been named as one of three “trailblazer” cities in the war against homelessness, as part of a new £40m Government scheme.
Theresa May has announced that the city will receive almost £1m to trial innovative approaches to end rough sleeping by intervening to help people before they end up on the streets.
The Prime Minister said the move was the first step in a policy shift moving the focus away from dealing with the consequences of homelessness and putting prevention “at the heart” of the Government’s approach.
