The stunning Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners that offer a poignant look at the entwined lives of man and beast



Painting a picture of the frail relationship between humans and the animal kingdom, these photos are at once beautiful and sad. 
This year, the Natural History Museum challenged photographers to tell visual stories about society's interactions with the natural world, and the winners, announced in London, did not disappoint.
American photographer Tim Laman won Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2016 for his image, Entwined lives. It frames a critically endangered Bornean orangutan above the Indonesian rainforest.
