A staggering one in eight travellers in the UK have had something confiscated from them, according to figures released by International Currency Exchange.
Being held up at security and having items you've bought, or with sentiment, taken away from you is not a pleasant experience
A quarter of items confiscated at airports have had a value of more than £50.
Figures also show that the financial hit is the worst for holidaymakers in Scotland.
Around nine per cent of Glaswegians were stopped at security.
And of those nine per cent, many lost items worth between £350 and £500.
