Households across the country - including Birmingham - are being warned to brace themselves for soaring inflation as a result of the plunging pound.
Sterling suffered another slump on Monday, tumbling 2.5 cents against the dollar to a new 31-year low of $1.21.
Sterling has slumped nearly 20 per cent against the dollar since the EU Referendum in June, which saw millions of Brits back Brexit with a vote to leave the European Union.
The fall is already hitting the average family through higher fuel prices and dearer holidays abroad.
