The North East's most dangerous places to drive at night revealed
The dangers of driving at night have been laid bare by new statistics.
One out of every seven (14.4%) road collisions in the whole of the North East occurred during twilight hours last year – the periods of dawn and dusk, between 5am and 7am or 6pm and 8pm - according to Department of Transport figures.
By comparison, only one in eight (12.9%) happened during the same hours for the months of May to August – making a winter car crash 1.5% more likely.
