The cost to tax-payers of fly-tipping in North Lincolnshire revealed - but the real price could be much more



Fly-tipping in North Lincolnshire cost more than £200,000 to clean up last year, new figures show.
And the true cost of the problem is likely to be much more, as the data only takes into account rubbish dumped on council-owned land.
Newly-released figures from Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) reveal a total of 69,758 reported fly-tipping incidents across the Yorkshire and Humber region in the year from April 2016 to March 2017 - a rise of 875 incidents when compared to the previous year and with a clean-up cost to tax-payers totaling £4,944,730.
