The African banknote featuring a Midland-made car: Yours for a sixth of a penny



A car made in the West Midlands has been immortalised on the back of an African banknote - and is worth a SIXTH of a penny.
UK banknotes may be swapping paper for polymer, and are typically emblazoned with historical figures like Sir Winston Churchill, but the 50 kwacha note in Malawi features the famed Land Rover Defender.
And a leading authority on the marque thinks the UK should take a leaf out of Malawi’s book and pay tribute to the Solihull-built vehicle.
