Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn is set to be anointed as the new king of Thailand, 50 days after the death of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The head of the National Legislative assembly is expected to publicly announce the prince's acceptance of the throne later on Thursday.
He will then become King Rama X, the 10th monarch of the Chakri dynasty.
King Bhumibol, the world's longest-reigning monarch, was loved by Thais. He died on 13 October
The government declared a year-long official mourning period.
