Tesco supermarket workers take company to court in pay cut battle



Supermarket workers at Tesco are taking legal action against the company.
The drastic action comes after the retailer, which operates numerous stores across Birmingham and throughout the West Midlands, has slashed staff pay for certain parts of the week.
Double pay for weekend work that was paid to staff who joined before 1999 has been axed.
Instead, the 50,000 staff members now get the time and a half that is paid to other workers.
Some Tesco workers say they face losing thousands of pounds a year.
A group of 17 are taking action claiming discrimination against long-serving staff.
