Tesco flogs more ready meals than ever as it grows its market share for the first time in five years



Tesco has increased its market share for the first time in five years according to data that suggests the turnaround forged by chief executive Dave Lewis has begun to pay off.
According to Kantar Worldpanel, sales grew 1.3 per cent year-on-year in the 12 weeks to 9 October, leaving it with with 28.2 per cent of the UK grocery market - up from 28.1 per cent a year earlier.
Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar Worldpanel, said growth was being driven by 'family shoppers and improved trading from its larger supermarket and Extra stores.'
