A teenager who punched an opposition player before he swallowed his tongue during a youth rugby league game was cleared of assault.
A 16-player brawl erupted at a national cup tie between Halton Farnworth Hornets and Ince Rose Bridge’s Under 18 teams.
Prosecutors said George Crosby, then 17, from Widnes , was stood watching the fight when he was approached by Alex Prince, then 18.
They alleged that Crosby did not see Prince coming, when the now 19-year-old punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
