Taxi driver rapist flees to Turkey midway through court trial
 

An Ellesmere Port taxi driver fled to TURKEY midway through his rape trial.
Syrian-born Sultan Amari was handed an 11-year sentence in his absence after being convicted of raping a student.
The 46-year-old raped his victim twice over a period of eight hours after picking her up and driving her to his home in Colwyn Close, Ellesmere Port.
Amari, a dad-of-one, was due to continue his evidence at Warrington Crown Court on Monday but instead he sent an email to the court telling them he had no intention of returning.
