Storm Ophelia has strengthened to hurricane and is heading for Scotland bringing unseasonal warmth before wind and rain

Tropical storm Ophelia is strengthening to a hurricane as it heads towards Scotland.
Ahead of the storm, there is likely to be some unseasonal warm weather with temperatures here between four and six degrees higher than normal for this time of year.
The route that the hurricane is taking is an unusual one and the Met Office are predicting it will hit the UK by the start of next week bringing wind and rain .
Although it is likely to be an ex-hurricane by the time it reaches the British Isles, it will still be a heavy tropical storm.
